Kota Kinabalu is known for its cheap seafood, so I decided to satisfy all my seafood cravings in Kota Kinabalu. I did some research and ended up trying out two of the three seafood restaurants I shortlisted with my travel partner. Here is my review of Welcome Seafood Restaurant.
Welcome Seafood Restaurant
I have read lots of good reviews of Welcome Seafood Restaurant so I had high expectations.
You can order crabs, lobsters, prawns, conch, fish and many other seafoods. The seafood is kept alive in huge water tanks outside the restaurant, you can select the seafood you want and they will cook it according to the style you want.
Oyster [RM10/piece] is affordable but it’s not very fresh and it was not cooked enough so there was a fishy taste to it.
The King Crab (XL) [RM100/kg] was so miserably-small, and the dry salted egg method of cooking caused the meat to shrivel even more.
Steamed Tiger Grouper [RM8 per 100g] was the best dish. You can taste the freshness of the fish from the firmness and sweetness of the fish meat.
A plate of Kang Kong Vege [Small RM14, Medium RM21, Large RM28] to add some greens to our meal.
