Having experienced the joy of piloting an aircraft at Flight Experience, I was overjoyed to learn that there is a new Virtual Reality Flight Experience at Funan Mall.
Virtual Reality Flight Experience is much cheaper than the full Flight Experience and easier to learn too.
I can’t wait to check out the new Virtual Reality Flight Experience at Funan Mall!
Book Tickets
Just like Flight Experience, I recommend pre-booking your Virtual Reality Flight Experience on their website. They are almost always fully-booked on weekends and school holidays so you should pre-book to avoid disappointment.
After you have chosen your preferred date and time and made payment, you will receive an email confirming your “flight ticket”.
The Virtual Reality Flight Experience
Virtual Experience Flight Experience is located on level 3 of Funan Mall. The left side of the shop is filled with souvenirs that you can pick up to commemorate your flight experience. There is a large display cabinet in the middle of the shop which displays the various aircraft models that are for sale. The two flight stimulators are at the right side of the shop.
The stimulators are modeled after ACES II Ejection Seat which are used in advanced combat jets. These custom-built simulators are as close as it gets to flying the real thing.
After taking a seat in the ejection seat, the flight instructor gave me a briefing on the controls and levers. There are much lesser things to remember, you only have to control the thrust levers, flight controls and pedals.
The flight instructor put on the Oculus Rift goggles for me and I was impressed with the realistic virtual reality visuals.
Virtual Reality Flight Experience uses AeroFlyFS2 system and I flew a F/A-18 fighter jet nicknamed “Blue Angel”.
You get to choose your flight destination with varying levels of difficulty. You can fly through the valleys of the Grand Canyon, fly under the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, between the snow-capped Austrian Alps into Innsbruck, fall in love with the night lights in Paris before flying under the Eiffel Tower or attempt the world’s most dangerous approach into Lukla, Nepal.
I chose to attempt flying under the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and it was much harder than I imagined. To do that, I had to fly at a really low altitude in order to pass underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. I only managed to do it on the second attempt. I absolutely enjoyed the amazing “view” from above.
Just like a real F-18 fighter jet, these virtual reality military jet simulators has attack capabilities with seat shaker system for maximum immersion. Friends can book together and enjoy fighting each other in the air.
Promotion
Virtual Reality Flight Experience is currently having a promotion called “VR Frequent Flyer Pass”. Buy 4 sessions and you get 2 sessions free. These sessions can be shared with family and friends.
Conclusion
Virtual Reality Flight Experience is different from flying a commercial jetliner like the Boeing 737. You are able to do stunts and launch attacks which you can’t do on a commercial jetliner. The realistic graphics, seat shaker system and Oculus Rift goggles gives you a truly immersive experience.
