Johor has its own international airport, Johor Bahru Senai International Airport. It’s not as popular as Kuala Lumpur International Airport as it only serves budget carriers such as Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Firefly, Batik Air, TransNusa and Amal by Malaysia Airlines.
I’ve always been curious about this Senai Airport, so I decided to take a trip there. This is how to travel by bus to Senai Airport from JB Sentral Bus Terminal.
JB Sentral to Senai Airport
After passing through Malaysia customs, walk straight and make a left u-turn to JB Sentral.
After taking two escalators down and walk through two overhead bridges, you will come to this junction. You can either take the escalator on your left or lift on your right to reach the ground floor.
Exit the building facing a small coffeeshop and you have reached JB Sental Bus Terminal.
Walk down the terminal and lookout for this yellow Causeway Link counter.
Ask for a ticket to Senai Airport which costs RM$8 per trip. You can pay by cash (please give exact amount), ManjaLink card, credit cards or ewallets.
Wait at Hentian Bas 1, the bus bay at the end of JB Sentral Bus Terminal. AA1 Senai Airport Shuttle Service runs daily from 9am till 8.30pm with bus service every hour. The journey from JB Sentral to Senai Airport takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic conditions.
The bus will drop you off at the end of the sheltered pick-up and drop-off point outside Senai Airport.
The Bus
The airport shuttle bus is a modern bus with plush comfortable seats and air-conditioning. It’s a comfortable ride for RM$8.
Senai Airport to JB Sentral
Exit Senai Airport from the door next to Old Town White Coffee and walk to your left.
You will see a long sheltered pick-up and drop-off point.
Walk all the way to the end and you will see the Bus Waiting Area sign. The bus is usually very punctual, it leaves on the dot at every hour so do come earlier so you don’t miss the bus.
There’s no need to buy a physical ticket. You can pay the RM$8 using cash or ManjaLink Card. The bus journey from Senai Airport to JB Sentral takes 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic conditions.
